Badminton

The racquets and shuttles are out. The Nets are set up and the gym floor is lined with white tape marking the boundaries for the 8 courts that we have in the gym. The students in grades 5th through 8th are improving their skills and knowledge related to the wonderful game of badminton. Each grade level will be involved in a doubles tournament which culminates in the victors from each class competing for the golden shuttle during spirit week.

Some interesting badminton facts:
1-A shuttle has been recorded traveling at 206 mph.
2-After soccer, badminton is the 2nd most popular participation sport in the world.
3-A top badminton player travels over a mile per game.

K-4 Students are Bowling

Spare Time Bowling in Colchester has allowed us to use 8 carpet lanes, 8 sets of pins and their bowling balls to give our students the opportunity to experience bowling. Students work in groups to make it all happen. They learn to cooperate as their team rotates from job to job (pin setter, ball runner, score keeper and bowler). They are also working on some basic math skills (data collection and addition). We also play some of their favorite music to spice things up. Click on the picture to see our students in action.
